Our Story

What began as an exciting dream has become an even more exciting reality. The love of Southern Gospel music shared by three friends has produced this new ministry, GlennMark Promotions. In December 2004, Glenn Totherow and Dennis Nichols started talking about their desire to have major Southern Gospel groups coming to Lancaster, SC on a regular basis. Both of these men love this style of music and have traveled outside of Lancaster on many occasions to attend singings. They decided to discuss the possibilities with their wives and for both couples to seek the Lord's guidance through prayer. Within a few days, GlennMark Promotions was born. GlennMark was chosen as the name because it is the combination of Glenn's and Dennis' middle names. Within another week, Mark Blackmon was asked to join GlennMark. Not only is he a valuable member of the team, but his name fits, too.

Through the years, Glenn had become a big fan of the Jody Brown Indian Family and had become acquainted with Jody Brown. So when plans were being made for the first concert, Jody was the natural choice to be asked to appear. Jody was willing to take a chance with this new concert promotion group and agreed to be part of the first event. He has proven to be a valuable resource to GlennMark. In fact when Dennis suggested asking the Whisnants to also be part of the first event, Jody made the initial contact with Jeff Whisnant on behalf of GlennMark. Jeff Whisnant has also gladly shared his experience and knowledge with GlennMark. What a blessing to have men like Jody and Jeff and groups like the Jody Brown Indian Family and the Whisnants willing to share their expertise with a new concert promotion group. Glenn, Mark and Dennis will always be grateful to these men and their families for their influence and impact on GlennMark Promotions. A return concert in March 2006 featuring both groups was a great success.

So many people deserve thanks for their support of GlennMark that it is impossible to list them all. But here are a few. Thanks to Glenn's wife Deena, Mark's wife Susan and Dennis' wife Susie for their love and encouragement. Thanks to the staff of Second Baptist Church for allowing the use of the Worship Center. Thanks to Dianne Hamrick and Donna Miller of King's Cause for their support. Thanks to John Hess for website development. Thanks to the local business owners who purchased ads in the concert program. Thanks to all of the fans who attend the concerts. But most of all, thanks to the Lord for placing the idea in Glenn's, Mark's and Dennis' minds and for making it possible for this ministry to begin. While bringing top quality Southern Gospel music to Lancaster, SC is a primary goal, the ultimate goal is that someone will be saved through the gospel message presented at a GlennMark event. What an exciting dream come true that will be.
